The challenge

A mortgage website needs to connect different questions to the right next step. A self-employed borrower, a homeowner approaching renewal and someone considering refinancing need distinct guidance. The project addressed service content and links that were sending general enquiries toward a private-mortgage page.

What the work covered

Focused mortgage guidance

Published dedicated self-employed, renewal and refinancing guidance, with service-specific checklists and clear consultation actions.

A more relevant enquiry path

Corrected self-employed review links to lead to the general Contact page. Updated homepage consultation wording and connected the homepage and Services page to the relevant guides.

Search foundations

Checked unique titles and descriptions, self-referencing canonical URLs, visible headings, sitemap inclusion and contextual links between related pages.

Documented checks

Checked desktop and mobile article layouts and followed consultation links through to Contact. Earlier form work included consent-state handling and a labelled test submission.

The evidence

The September 16, 2026 release record documents successful public responses for six changed pages, sitemap inclusion for the three guides and direct checks of the updated consultation links. Indexing requests were accepted for the guides; acceptance is not proof of indexing or rankings.

This case documents delivered website and content improvements. It does not claim increased enquiries, mortgage approvals or advertising returns. Form-email delivery was a separate workstream and was not retested in the September 16 release.

The practical lesson

Useful search content should answer the visitor's actual question and lead to an appropriate enquiry. A working link is not enough if it sends the customer to the wrong service.

Each project has its own scope. Major builds, recovery and catalogue production are assessed separately from the CAD $250/month Local Growth Plan.
